Banff distillery was established in 1824 and rebuilt on a different site after fire damage in 1863. The distillery was rebuilt following another fire in 1877 and came under the ownership of Scotch Malt Distillery in 1933. The distillery was one of many casualties in 1983 and has since been demolished.

Colour: Antique gold.
Nose: Fresh citrus fruit salad, lemon zest & pineapple.
Flavour: Grassy and sweet with light smoke.
Finish: Silky smooth and oily.
Comments:  Sweetness and light!

Bottling: Rarest of the Rare Banff 1980 - 23yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 2894
Colour: Golden straw.
Nose: Earthy, Melted butter and pears.
Flavour: Lemon, lime. Sweet smoke and oak.
Finish: Lasting, zesty and slightly peppery.
Comments:  A lively dram.

Bottling: Rarest of the Rare Banff 1975 - 29yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 3417
Colour: Straw.
Nose: Fresh, rich fruits with a trace of smoke.
Flavour: Lemony zest, very sweet with trace of woodiness.
Finish: Slightly malty with waxy fruity notes.
Comments:  Shows age yet still fresh.

Bottling: Rarest of the Rare Banff 1980 - 23yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 2909
Colour: Pale Gold.
Nose: Light, vanilla and Parma violets. Very fresh.
Flavour: Slightly spicy with a malty fruitiness.
Finish: A gentle trace of smoke in the finish.
Comments:  A perfectly balanced whisky, the smoke hold everything in place.

Bottling: Rarest of the Rare Banff 1975 - 28yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 3419
Colour: Straw.
Nose: Very fresh, fruity trace of distant smoke.
Flavour: Very zesty, wow.
Finish: Lots of sweetness and very rich Long, lingering with hits of fresh wood.
Comments:  A cracker!

Bottling: Rarest of the Rare Banff 1975 - 30yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 3421.
Colour: Rich Gold.
Nose: Warm oily, slightly spicy with a hint of ginger.
Flavour: Sherbert like, lots of lemon and green apples.
Finish: Lingering fruitiness with a lasting tingling spice.
Comments:  This is why we miss this distillery so much.

Bottling: Rarest of the Rare Banff 1980 - 25yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 2912.
Colour: Straw.
Nose: Strawberry Icecream and coastal notes.
Flavour: Light oily notes, coastal again, very coating and creamy.
Finish: A little waxy, creamy and soft saltiness.
Comments:  An unlucky distillery - but what great whisky!
